About Reflexology
The HistoryThe history of Reflexology can be traced back to the Egyptian times. The modern form of Reflexology was developed in the early twentieth century by an American ENT consultant, Dr William Fiztgerald, who discovered that pressure applied to one part of the body could ease pain in another area of the body.
By applying a gentle pressure to the reflexes of the feet or hands a deep sense of relaxation is achieved. This then encourages the body to heal itself and bring about a sense of well-being and state of inner balance in the body.
Benefits Reflexology is suitable for all ages including children. There are very few conditions that are contra-indicated for treatment so most people will benefit from the treatment. Since it is helping to bring about a sense of well -being it is very useful form of treatment for healthy individuals to help prevent or minimise infections such as colds and flu.
